This is a permanent instream PIT tag interrogation site at rkm 12 above Forest Road 62 and below Alder Creek on the Chiwawa River. The site consists of two rows of antennas, with each row spanning the wetted width of the channel during base flows. Each row consists of 3 15-foot PVC antennas, installed in flat-plate configuration. The FS1001M transceiver is powered by a thermoelectric generator. The antennas were built and installed by WDFW. A cellular modem is installed on site to provide remote communication and allow for automated data collection. A submersible pressure transducer and temperature probes are installed on site to monitor environmental conditions.

MUX at site was broken. Site is now no longer a viable detection site as replacement MUX is not working well.

Site was off from August 25th 2021 to September 8th. Due to problems with the thermo-electric generator.

8/23/2018 10:00:00 AM SiteDown At interrogation Site CHU on 8/23/2018 at approximately 10:00 AM, entire site was shutdown due to fire danger. Propane tanks, Mux, TEG, and Modem were temporarily removed. Will reassemble and start operating again when there is no risk of fire damaging equipment.
8/2/2018 12:00:00 PM General At interrogation site CHU on 8/2/18 at approximately 12:00 PM, Antennas #1, and #5 were brought back online. All antennas at this site are functioning. Site is fully operational.
8/25/2017 8:02:51 AM General I reset the mux clock to the correct time. Also I resubmitted file CHU17236.90A.
7/25/2017 10:00:00 AM General At interrogation site CHU on 7/25/2017 at approximately 10:00 AM, Antenna #5 was brought back online. Cable was bad, but was replaced with new one. All antennas at this site are functioning. Site is fully operational.
7/24/2017 1:00:00 PM General At interrogation site CHU on 7/24/2017 at approximately 1:00 PM, Antennas 1,4,6 were brought back online. Cables to these antennas were unplugged, but they are plugged back in now. Antenna #5 is the only antenna not operating at this site. Antenna #5 needs new cable installed.
5/23/2017 2:00:00 PM General At interrogation site CHU on 5/23/2017 at approximately 2:00 PM, Antenna #4 lost power. At interrogation site CHU on 5/29/2017 at approximately 1:00 PM Antenna #6 Lost power. The only antennas operational at this site are Antenna #2 and Antenna #3.
5/6/2017 6:00:00 AM General At interrogation site CHU on 5/6/2017 at approximately 6:00 AM, Antenna # 5 lost power. Antennas #1 and #5 are not operational. All other antennas are powered up and operational.

1/6/2017 1:00:00 PM General At interrogation site CHU, on 1/6/2017 at approximately 1:00 PM, antennas #5 and #6 went offline. Antennas #5 and #6 have not operated since that date.
8/12/2016 12:00:00 PM General At interrogation site CHU, on 8/11/2016 at approximately 12:00 PM, antenna #1 and antenna #5 were replaced. On 8/12/2016 at approximately 12:00 pm antenna #4 was also replaced. All antennas are functioning properly. Site is fully operational.
5/25/2016 12:00:00 PM SiteUp At interrogation site CHU, a new MUX was installed on 5/25/2016 at approximately 12:00 PM. Site is now up and running and fully operational.
4/27/2016 5:00:00 AM SiteDown At interrogation site CHU, MUX stopped reading and recording PIT Tags on 04/27/2016 at approximately 5:00 A.M. MUX has not recorded PIT Tags from 4/27/2016 to current date.
4/22/2016 9:26:00 AM General At interrogation site CHU, Antenna #4 lost current on 4/22/2016 at 18:26 PM, and is no longer operational.
4/20/2016 9:26:00 AM General At interrogation site CHU, Antenna #1 lost current on 04/20/2016 at 09:26 AM, and is no longer operational.
8/24/2015 4:10:00 PM SiteDown On 8-24-15 the CHU array ran out of propane and was down on 8-24-15 from 01:27 to 12:21 of that date. Propane was replaced and site is back up.
3/25/2014 2:00:00 PM SiteUp CHU operational, propane refilled and back up batteries replaced.
3/22/2014 11:35:00 AM SiteDown CHU lost power, site shut down sometime after 06:49
5/7/2013 10:35:00 AM General CHU antennas were broken or disconnected during high flows in May. Antenna 1 went down on 5/7/13, antenna 6 went down on 5/9/13, antenna 4 went down on 5/11/13. All the antennas were reconnected or replaced on 7/30/13.
