OMK - Omak Creek Instream Array
Status: Active - OperationalGeneral Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 1/1/2006 12:00 AM
OMK is a permanent PIT tag interrogation system in Omak Creek. Omak Creek enters the Okanogan River at RKM 51.5, approximately 1 km upstream from the city of Omak, WA. OMK is located 0.24 km from the confluence with the Okanogan River. In February 2011, the site consisted of 6 pass-over PVC antennas, in two separate rows. In January 2018, the instream array was reconfigured with four 10 foot HDPE antennas anchored to the stream bed for pass-over detection. Antennas are configured in 2 separate rows that span the wetted width at base flow. Each antenna is power by a Biomark IS1001 reader multiplexed by an IS1001-MC. The site is connected to grid power to charging two battery banks which in turn power the detection system. OMK has remote communication abilities provided by a cellular modem.

Configuration
Configuration metadata includes details about the equipment used at the site to detect and record PIT tags. A new configuration sequence record is created when equipment is added or removed from the site and the period of time it was active. A configuration sequence without an End Date is currently active.

Event Date | Event Type | Comments |
---|---|---|
1/9/2023 10:00:00 AM | SiteUp |
GFCI was reset and fresh batteries were swapped in. Site back on and fully functional. |
1/8/2023 7:30:00 AM | SiteDown |
A short in power supply caused GFCI to trip. At 07:30 AM on 01/08/23 the batteries supplying power to equipment were drained enough to cause equipment to shut down. Site down. |
7/27/2022 9:00:00 AM | General |
Canbus cable replaced between nodes 1 and 2. All nodes operational again. |
7/25/2022 10:30:00 AM | General |
Vandals pulled out and damaged canbus cable between nodes 1 and 2. Nodes 2, 3, 4 down. Node 1 still operational. |
7/14/2022 1:00:00 PM | General |
Noise has been high (40%+) on all nodes since site came back online on 07/11/22. Swapped out main canbus cable, and noise reduced to normal levels. |
6/9/2022 3:00:00 PM | SiteUp |
Reactivated circuit breaker, swapped batteries and replaced battery switcher. Site fully operational. |
6/9/2022 12:00:00 AM | SiteDown |
Site lost power due to circuit breaker being flipped, draining the batteries. Site inoperable. |
4/13/2021 1:00:00 PM | General | Ghost tag removed from antenna 03 field. Tag 3DD.003D378016 |
4/7/2021 10:00:00 AM | General | Ghost tag lodged itself within antenna 03 field causing 80% noise. |
