Status:   Active - Operational
Site Type: Instream Remote Detection System  |  Organization: Biomark
General Operational Period: Year Round
Start Date: 12/3/2010 12:00 AM

In-stream detection system consisting of a single array located in the lower Imnaha River. The array (IR1) located at river km 7 (N 45.761162, W -116.750658) consists of four 20 foot Biomark flat panel antennas that span the entire river at base flow. IR1 is operated by the Integrated Status and Effectiveness Project (ISEMP) cooperators Nez Perce Tribe and Quantitative Consultants, Inc. and was installed for continuous monitoring on December 3, 2010. The array includes ISEMP standard site monitoring equipment including: air and water temperature probes, and a water pressure transducer to monitor stream level. Electrical power is provided by a solar/propane hybrid thermal electric generator and remote communication provided by a satellite modem.

Event Log Summary

Event Date Event Type Comments
11/3/2023 12:00:00 AM General

IR1 is operating continuously without disruption through November 3, 2023.

10/18/2022 1:00:00 PM General

Antenna B1 was replaced with a new Biomark 20 ft. PVC antenna.  B1 started losing current May 29, 2022 but was still operational at 1.15 A and continued detecting PIT tags and virtual test tags at less than optimal performance.  IR1 is operating continuously without disruption through October 20, 2022.

9/21/2022 12:00:00 PM SiteUp

Site electronics enclosure was re-installed September 21, 2022 as the the threat of fire at IR1 subsided.  IR1 is operating continuously without disruption again.

9/10/2022 12:00:00 AM SiteDown

Site electronics enclosure was removed due to threat of burning up from the Double Creek Fire.  Site is down indefinitely.

5/29/2022 12:00:00 AM SiteUp

Antenna B1 lost 2A of current on May 29, 2022.  B1 likely has a reduced read range affecting IR1 detection probability.

11/2/2021 12:00:00 AM General

IR1 is operating continuously without disruption through November 2, 2021.

6/17/2020 8:20:00 AM General Satellite SIM Card swapped, site visit. General clean up and maintenance performed. Brush and trees removed from antenna area.
10/9/2019 4:57:30 PM General IR1 is operating continuously without disruption through October 9, 2019.
11/13/2018 7:16:00 AM General Imnaha River 1 (IR1) had Campbell Scientific data logger replaced with a new data logger designed by Biomark on November 13, 2018. A new HughesNet satellite modem/antenna was also installed. IR1 site air temperature probe was changed out for a compatible model. IR1 is operating continuously without disruption through November 26, 2018.
9/26/2018 7:10:00 AM General Imnaha River 1 (IR1) antenna B2 began losing current in late August 2018 and was replaced with a 20 ft. Biomark HDPE antenna on September 26, 2018. IR1 is operating continuously without disruption through 10/21/18.
8/16/2018 2:27:00 PM General Imnaha River 1 (IR1) antenna B3 lost substantial current on June 26, 2018. Antenna B3 was replaced with a 20 ft. PVC antenna on 8/16/18. IR1 has run continuously without disruption through 8/17/18.
2/1/2018 9:45:00 AM General Imnaha River 1 (IR1) array had all 6 deep cell Solar batteries replaced on 2/1/18.. IR1 is functioning continuously without disruption through 2/7/18.
8/31/2017 8:43:00 AM General Imnaha River 1 (IR1) antenna B2 was repaired by plugging the antenna cable back in and securing the cable with zip ties. Pressure transducer and additional antenna cables were secured under antennas. IR1 is running continuously without disruption through 9/5/17.
5/4/2017 7:46:00 AM General The optical isolator between the MUX and data logger was replaced at Imnaha River 1 array (IR1) on May 4, 2017. IR1 has run continuously without disruption through 5/10/17.
