Operational History

Operational history describes the period the site was interrogating for PIT tags. The comments provide anecdotal information about the operation of the site during this period. Site operational periods are updated typically at the end of the calendar year.

Year Start Date End Date Comments
2006 1/1/2006 12:00 AM 11/8/2006 3:00 PM The PIT tag detector was not functional between July 13 and August 4. This is the last year for TMA, which was combined with TMJ to form TMF on Nov. 8, 2006.
2005 1/1/2005 12:00 AM 1/1/2006 12:00 AM One of the antennas was removed on December 1, 2004 so as to avoid interfering with videotaping of adult passage. It was re-installed on January 11, 2005. The adult ladder at Three Mile Dam was dewatered from noon on July 1 until 3:00 PM on August 24, 2005.
2004 1/1/2004 12:00 AM 1/1/2005 12:00 AM On May 11, Shannon Jewett reported ``On April 27th the upstream antenna at TMA was found on the floor so it was retaped to the window. We now know that it had been down since at least April 13th and possibly as early as the afternoon of April 1st. On May 11th the TMA readers were checked and the downstream reader was not on. There was a power outage sometime between 2300 on May 9th and 0100 on May 10th which may have caused the downstream reader to shut off, but both readers are connected to a backup battery to prevent this from happening. We are looking into the cause. In the meantime we will check the site twice a week.`` The adult ladder was shut down at about 0900 on 5/29/04 and opened back up on 6/1/04 at about 1600, due to debris loads in the Umatilla River. One of the two antennas was removed on 12/01/04 so as not to interfere with videotaping of adult passage at the viewing window.
2003 1/1/2003 12:00 AM 1/1/2004 12:00 AM Again, FS2001F readers with antennas duct-taped to counting window. One reader OOS between 2/28 and 4/10 for repairs. One reader out on loan between 4/21-4/24. Ladder dewatered between July 7 and August 28.
2002 2/8/2002 10:00 AM 1/1/2003 12:00 AM First year of operation, consisting of two 2001F racket antennas duct-taped to the counting-room window. The ladder was dewatered between July 8 and August 22. Probable data loss between mid-September and October 7 due to reader failures.
