This site monitors the juvenile bypass system and fish facility at Little Goose Dam. The site operates seasonally for juvenile outmigration and includes antennas in the full flow bypass flume that is often active before and after the sampling facility each year. Separation by Code (SbyC) is also available to allow researchers to selectively divert PIT-tagged fish to two separate sample tanks for additional sampling. SbyC acts on all PIT-tagged fish by default to return them to the river, rather than be collected for transportation with untagged run-of-river fish. Researchers can use SbyC to override that default action and instead allow PIT-tagged fish to be treated like the untagged population.

Every other day barging from May 19 - June 21. Truck transport ran every other day from August 1 through end of sampling on November 1. Full flow was dewatered for the season December 21.
2019 3/25/2019 9:00 AM 12/19/2019 11:00 AM The JFF was watered up March 27 and remained in primary bypass until 07:00 PDT on April 1, when collection for sampling began. Sampling occurred every other day April 2 - 23. Collection for transportation by barge and everyday sampling began April 23 at 07:00 PDT. Barge tansportation ended on July 30 and truck transportation begain on August 1. Transportation by truck and sampling ended on November 1. On April 24 a pipe failure caused fish to be loaded to raceways rather than direct to barge; raceway capacity was reached at 0215 and 0415 on the A and B sides respectively, forcing fish to routed to the river via secondary bypass. An error in gate settings caused fish to be unintentally bypassed back to the river from April 24 2300 - April 25 0300.
2018 2/20/2018 12:00 AM 1/1/2019 12:00 AM The JFF watered up February 20 and was placed into primary bypass. Sampling ran March 1 - November 1. Barge transportation ran April 22 - August 14. Truck transportation ran from August 16 - November 2. Sampling and truck transporation were suspended from September 15 - October 13 because the mortality rate exceeded 10% for 3 consecutive days.

2016 3/22/2016 11:00 AM 12/21/2016 9:00 AM The facility watered up in primary bypass on March 22 and switched to secondary bypass on April 9. The JFF was shut down for the season on November 11 and the full flow was dewatered on December 21.

2013 3/19/2013 10:45 AM 12/17/2013 10:30 AM Watered up in primary bypass on March 19. Secondary bypass will occur for 24 hours every 5 days starting on April 2 at 0700. Collection for transportation ran from May 2 - October 31, when the JFF was dewatered and the facility switched into primary bypass. The full flow was dewatered on December 17.
2012 3/19/2012 2:00 PM 12/18/2012 10:00 AM The juvenile system watered up in primary bypass on March 19. The facility switched to secondary bypass (water over the separator) from April 1-5. Every 5th day the facility switched to secondary bypass to collect a 24 hour fish sample (April 9, 14, 19, 24, and 29). Collection for barge transportation began on May 3 and ended on October 31; the facility switched in to primary bypass at that time. Full flow detection continued until December 18, when the primary bypass flume was dewatered for the season.
2011 3/22/2011 1:30 PM 12/19/2011 12:00 PM The LGS JFF watered up in primary bypass on March 22, 2011. The facility switched to secondary bypass for 24 hours (0700-0700 PDT) on April 3-4 to collect a "condition" sample. Additional scheduled sample dates are April 8-9, 13-14, 18-19, 23-24, and 28-29. The facility switched into transport mode on May 5 at 0700. The facility switched back into primary bypass mode on October 31. The primary bypass flume was dewatered for the season on December 19.
2010 3/8/2010 10:30 AM 12/16/2010 9:00 AM The juvenile fish bypass was watered up for approximately three hours on March 8 to test the new primary bypass outfall pipe. The Primary Bypass pipe was watered up for the season on March 23. The facility switched to secondary bypass/collection for short periods on April 5, 11, 15, 20, and from April 25-27, before settling into secondary bypass/collection mode on April 30. The facility reverted to primary bypass mode on Oct. 31. The entire juvenile bypass system was dewatered on December 16.
2009 3/25/2009 9:00 AM 12/16/2009 12:00 PM The Little Goose juvenile fish bypass watered up in primary bypass on March 25, 2009. The facility was in secondary bypass/collection mode from April 1 until October 31. The facility remained in primary bypass mode from October 31 until the bypass was dewatered on December 16.
2008 4/1/2008 6:00 AM 11/1/2008 6:00 AM A scheduled power outage at 7:00 AM (pst) on April 23 extended unexpectedly and essentially uninterrupted until 7:27 AM (pst) on April 25. The facility switched to primary bypass on Nov. 1, after which no PIT tag detection was possible.
2007 4/1/2007 6:00 AM 10/31/2007 12:00 PM The LGS juvenile fish facility (JFF) watered-up at 0700h (PDT) on April 1, 2007, in secondary bypass mode. Fish were bypassed directly back to the river until May 8, when transportation activities commenced. The facility switched back to primary bypass on October 31. No PIT tag detection is possible during primary bypass.
2006 4/1/2006 7:00 AM 10/31/2006 7:30 AM The facility watered-up at 0700h on April 1, 2006. The facility operated in secondary bypass mode until 0700 on April 24, when fish were first routed to the raceways for subsequent transportation. LGS shifted back to primary bypass at 7:30 AM on October 31. There was no PIT tag detection capability in the primary bypass route at LGS in 2006, so there was no way to track any PIT-tagged fish diverted from the LGS turbine intakes after this date.

Replaced CPU board on transceiver A3, Site personnel alerted me to the A gate banging on close cycle. Adjusted exhaust valve and exercised gate but still was inconsistent. The COE had a replacement valve, replaced top end of valve , re-adjusted and corrected the issue. No other problems to report.
